As a seller on Vinterior, you must comply with all applicable laws and regulations when advertising and selling goods on Vinterior. This article details the upcoming changes to fire safety regulations for furniture items. Please note that the legislation is in the transactional period and will take effect as of the 1st of April, 2026. However, we wanted to give you plenty of notice so that you are prepared.
From the 1st of April 2026, the legislation will be as follows:
In order to be supplied, second-hand upholstered products manufactured after 1st January 1950 must bear the original permanent label.
Second-hand products must not be supplied if there is reason to believe that the product would no longer be in conformity with the relevant regulations. If there is reasonable cause to believe that upholstery has been added in the course of reupholstery or repair after the introduction of the new approach, the product must also have a permanent re-upholstery label in order to be supplied.
If no original permanent label is present, you may be able to contact the original manufacturer to acquire one. Alternatively, if the sofa has been re-upholstered, a permanent re-upholstery label is sufficient as proof of fire safety
Action required
You must add a picture of the original permanent label and, if applicable, the re-upholstery label on any applicable listings by the 1st of April 2026. This includes but is not limited to: sofas and armchairs.
Applicable items that do not have a label must be removed from the platform by the 1st of April 2026.
